The picturesque town of Petaluma is much sought after as a movie location with its iron front commercial buildings, numerous Victorian homes and wine country charm. It’s also conveniently located just 32 miles north of San Francisco and is easily accessible from any of the Bay Area’s major airports.

More recently, Petaluma has been used in films like American Graffiti, Basic Instinct, Peggy Sue Got Married, Lolita, Phenomenon, True Crime, and many others. Petaluma has also been the site of numerous commercials, independent and student films and multiple television shows.
The Hollywood Tour of Petaluma includes the Iron Front buildings on Western Avenue from Kentucky Street to Petaluma Boulevard as well as the Riverfront area at the foot of Western Avenue. The Bluestone Main Building and the Mystic Theater on Petaluma Boulevard, as well as the stretch from D Street to Washington were all used as locations in various films. Fifth and B Streets were used in the 1997 Disney film, Flubber. The end of "H" Street at the Petaluma River was Lovers Lane for Peggy Sue and her boyfriend in Peggy Sue Got Married.
