Petaluma Transit is the public bus service in the city of Petaluma. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday between 6:20 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., and on Saturday from 7:20 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., with no evening or Sunday, service. Saturday service is provided on some holidays. The bus service accommodates regional transit transfer points such as Fourth and C Streets in downtown Petaluma, the Copeland Transit Mall, and the Petaluma Fairgrounds, allowing transfers to and from all Petaluma Transit Routes to Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and Amtrak.
Petaluma Transit routes offer stops at a number of area attractions, including the Boulevard Bowl, City Hall, Petaluma Village Premium Outlets, Town and Country Shopping Center, Petaluma Veterans Hall, Lucchesi Park, Petaluma Plaza Shopping Center, Plaza North Shopping Center, Petaluma Valley Hospital, Redwood Gateway Shopping Center, and the Petaluma Community Health Clinic. Downtown and the fairgrounds are also served by the bus system.

The main freeway through town Highway 101, and State Route 116 also runs through town as Lakeville Highway. Major streets within the city include East Washington Street, North and South McDowell Boulevards, and Petaluma Boulevard.
San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport are the nearest major airports. The Petaluma Municipal Airport and the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport are both nearby.
